At Själevadskolan, there are currently about 580 students, from preschool to grade 9.

We are a training school for teacher students at Mid Sweden University. Själevad is beautifully located by the Mo River, about 6 kilometers west of central Örnsköldsvik.

We are now looking for a special education teacher, preferably with a focus on Swedish (ideally with language, reading, and writing development) for Själevadskolan. The position is a permanent 100% position starting in spring 2026.

For those new to the profession, Örnsköldsvik Municipality has an introduction program for new teachers, which means that during your first year, you will have a mentor. Your mentor is an experienced teacher with the same subject qualifications who can guide and support you.

Job Responsibilities

As a special education teacher at Själevadskolan, you will teach students in smaller groups, individually, and in larger contexts. You will be part of our special team together with special education teachers and special pedagogues. You will closely collaborate with the special pedagogue and other teachers, and when necessary, the student health team, to ensure that students receive the best possible education. The work will involve, among other things, adapting teaching materials, creating inclusive learning environments and methods based on students' needs, and providing extra support and guidance to both students and teachers.

You should be attentive, flexible, engaged, and creative to help students develop as far as possible. Additionally, we would like you to have good communication skills, as contact and collaboration with guardians are an important part of the job.

To succeed in the role of special education teacher, you have a pedagogical education and experience working with students with various types of special needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a special education degree/primary school teacher degree with experience in special education assignments with subject qualifications in Swedish or other qualifications deemed suitable by the employer. Experience with students with NPF and language disorders is particularly meritorious.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being challenged and thinking innovatively, who sees differences and diversity as a foundation for learning and development. You are a secure adult and a clear leader. Being a role model and creating a positive atmosphere in the student group and among colleagues is a given for you.

Please attach your CV and a personal letter with your application.

In case of employment, a passport and an extract from the Police's criminal record must be presented to the employer.

Welcome with your application!
